Scapa Launches AFT
Scapa has launched AFT – a new acrylic foam tapes range designed to replace mechanical fasteners, liquid adhesives and spot welds in the glazing, building and construction, automotive and many other manufacturing industries. AFT products form a permanent, high strength bond to many different substrates from metals, glass and wood to composite materials and painted surfaces.
Comprising a selection of single- and double-sided products in both standard and high performance grades, Scapa’s AFT tapes offer excellent ageing and weathering properties for both interior and exterior use. This ensures adhesion levels are maintained, even at sub-zero temperatures, while their high resistance to UV, moisture and solvents means they do not become brittle over time.
James Shipp, technical service engineer at Scapa comments: “Our new AFT range has a greater, aggressive tack compared with many existing tapes. The AFT materials combine excellent grab with high temperature performance which enables long-lasting use in permanent applications. Examples include commercial sign production and window manufacturing, as well as caravan, trailer and mobile home assembly. In addition, AFT tapes offer cleaner and easier application than their liquid adhesive alternatives and their flexibility make them conformable to curved, intricate surfaces.”
Nine different acrylic foam tapes are currently available in the AFT range, offering varying thicknesses, liners types and colours – for identification and aesthetics purposes – to meet customer requirements.
